There will be a community-wide Memorial for Victims of Terror in
Israel next Tuesday evening. The event is timed to coincide with the
traditional nine days of mourning before Tisha B'Av (the ninth day
of the month of Av), which commemorates the destruction of the First
and Second Temples in Jerusalem and the beginning of the dispersion
of Jews around the world.
While the dream of a modern Jewish State has been achieved, its
citizens cannot yet live in peace and security. In the past three
years more than 800 people have been killed and 6000 injured by
terrorist attacks. Boston area Jews will stand together to
demonstrate their solidarity with their brethren in Israel at this
critical time. The program will include a candle-lit memorial.
Children are encouraged to bring flashlights.
